The Cool Cap. What is it? Well, let me put it this way: Ever had an awful headache, so you can’t hang out with your friends? Have you ever needed to stay cool on a hot day, but you want to remain the most fashionable person ever? Boy do I have a solution for you!! Introducing The Cool Cap! The Cool Cap is a tool created by yours truly, and it has already changed lives. No longer do you have to miss out on millions of inside jokes, only because you had to stay home with a headache! Not only will you not be a social outcast, but you will be the exact opposite! You will be Cool! Awesome! Amazing!!!

The process of this commercial was difficult, yet fun and interesting. We ran into a few problems with the audio, but we did a voice over, and it was all good.

And remember Hats Have Never Been Cooler!!

Creating a business and advertising it is hard to do. But with my training in e-Communication in the eXplore9 program made it easier. I have learned so much by creating a commercial, an animation, a logo, a website, and various different aspects of technology.

In learning about what the capabilities of the different software we used, I started to get ideas on what to do and how to do it. If I didn’t have an idea, such as when I was making the logo, I played around with different components until I found something that sparked, and followed it.

Along the way, I learned the different tools, the special things you can do with them, and then I applied it to my work. I learned different tips and tricks when it comes to filming. I learned ways to manipulate pictures, backgrounds and designs. I learned how to use still frames to make an animation, and how to bring my ideas to life in SketchUp.

In working with others, I was able to take ideas of my own, and expand on them in a group setting. As I explained what I wanted to happen, someone would say Makena, you are going to end up not finishing that before the deadline. It’s too much work. Or they would say something like Makena, that’s genius. What if we took that and added this, this, and this, that way it all works out? My group did a really good job in giving constructive criticism. It was never, Makena, that idea sucks. It’s stupid. It was always, Ohh, What if we took that and applied it to this and combined it with this to make it a little better? My group was just made of really awesome people. We never, fought, we never disagreed, but we were comfortable enough with each other to really let the ideas flow.
Honestly, I wouldn’t change anything. I love my group, I love the work we put out, it was a great situation altogether. Maybe more time to get all the ideas out there, but I still loved our output. I would do everything the same.

In my next project I will take different ideas that were thrown around but never made the cut, and apply them to what I am working on. I hope to be able to elaborate more and create some cleaner cuts.
All in all, I wouldn’t change anything. This assignment really brought out my creative process and allowed me to captivate and cultivate it, making it stronger for future use. I am starting to see the art in every day life, simply because the different ways that things are made, colors, shape, and all these other aspects start to become more clear to me. Ever wondered why the sun makes people happy? Its warm, bright, circular, and yellow. Yellow symbolizes optimism. Circles represent forever, a never breaking change. It is amazing to me just what is out there, just waiting to be discovered

POPtART

We’ve all seen this before. If you haven’t, you’ve been living under a graphic design rock. One of Andy Warhol’s most famous works, his portrait of Marilyn Monroe, is recognizable to anyone, just because of how famous the artist was. Using a publicity shot of Marilyn, Warhol created a few works through a silk screening process. He made the original, Marilyn , and then Marilyn Diptych , symbolizing the iconic woman’s death. In my own little way, I tried to create my own Andy-Warhol-based portraits of Hayley Willams, Gwen Stefani, Cara Delevingne, and Lady Gaga.  Following a basic color scheme, I created Pop Art Portraits

What is Graphic Design?!?

What is Graphic Design?!? Graphic Design: Google(the best website in the whole world) puts it simply as the art or skill of combining text and pictures in advertisements, magazines, or books. Most GD conveys an image, a message, a language. However GOOD GD makes peoples lives better!! It’s a language for the living. It can be quirky! Or ugly! Or beautiful! Whatever it needs to be. And most of all, Graphic Design is simply dong what is right, not what the survey s ays.  Only Graphic Design is like Graphic Design.
