Are Reporters Crossing the Line?
It seems that as soon as an incident happens, reporters instantly swoop in for an interview. Just recently, a shooting happened at a community college in Roseburg, Oregon. Almost instantly, people began to tweet about it, leading reporters to ask those people for interviews. by doing this, the reporters sparked heated feedback and criticism. Some said “Absolute human vultures”, while others said “Sickening”.
The Author was trying to convey how media is labeling Reporters as vultures. The author provides an example of this happening. ‘The exchange started when a young woman who goes by the Twitter handle @KP_Kayla Marie began live tweeting… Kayla Marie was soon swamped by requests for interviews. “Can you DM [direct message] when you find shelter,” tweeted NBC’s Emmanuelle Saliba to Kayla’s account (the tweet has been deleted). “I’m a reporter for NBC News.”’ The author does a great job wording his points, but he didn’t provide a solution to solve the problem. He just kind of stated the facts. I think the author was generally trying to convey the idea that reporters are being called vultures needlessly.
This evidence definitely showed what the author was trying to say. I understood what the main points were, and I agree with what the author was saying.
